Why are we doing this?

If you're up for a challenge, the 2018 Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon is your chance to compete against the best new talent in British road running.

#TeamCroydon are looking for young athletes to compete in the Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon on Sunday 22 April 2018. This is an event that's enjoyed by the thousands of young people who take part. You will be part of a team of 36 runners and run the final three miles of the London Marathon course.

To be eligible to represent Croydon, you must live*, go to school or were born in the London Borough of Croydon, and be between the ages of 11 – 17 on the day the race (born between 1 September 2000 and 22 April 2007). There are three age groups for boys and girls. 

Boys and Girls – Under 13
(Must be at least 11 years old on 22 April 2018)

Born between 1 September 2004 and 22 April 2007

Boys and Girls – Under 15
Born between 1 September 2002 and 31 August 2004

Boys and Girls – Under 17
Born between 1 September 2000 and 31 August 2002

* If an athlete is eligible to run for one or more London boroughs, and is selected for more than one borough, the athlete should run for the borough they live in, which will take priority over school, and birth place.

Trial information

Date: Saturday 3 March 2018

Rescheduled Date: 17th March 2018

Time: 1.45pm registration for a 2.30pm start
Venue: Lloyd Park, Coombe Road, Croydon, CR0 5RA

The top five athletes from the U13, U15 and U17 boys and girls categories will qualify to represent their borough in the mini marathon on Sunday 22 April 2018. The other remaining place in each category will be decided by club recommendations, current performances and trials.

If you are unable to make the trials and wish to be considered, you must have a legitimate reason and email before the event stating your full details (name, address, date of birth, contact number and school). Please supply details of latest performances (times and distances) and include a recent parkrun time.
