Why are we contacting you?

The recent contact with residents in high-rise blocks is due to new regulations introduced by the Building Safety Act 2022. This law was enacted in response to the Grenfell Tower fire and aims to enhance the safety of high-rise buildings. It requires building owners and managers to engage with residents about safety measures, ensuring they are informed and involved in decisions regarding their building's safety. This includes providing clear information on who to contact with safety concerns and how to report issues.

We are consulting with residents to create a resident engagement strategy for your building. We want to ensure that we keep you informed and consult you on the things that matter to you relating to the safety of your building. We want to make sure that you are confident that you will be listened to if you have any concerns and understand from you how and if you want to get more involved in building safety matters.

Survey closed 6th December 2024.

Building Safety Resident Engagement – Key Findings

As part of our commitment to resident safety, we conducted a survey to understand how residents want to engage with us on building safety. We received responses from residents in our high-rise blocks, providing valuable insights into their needs and preferences.

Key Findings:

  • Residents in sheltered blocks prefer information to be posted through their doors.
  • Residents want clear and regular updates on building safety measures and procedures.
  • Preferred communication methods include direct emails, notices in communal areas, and resident meetings.
  • The majority of respondents prefer monthly or quarterly updates on safety issues.
  • Many residents emphasised the importance of transparent and timely communication to build trust and confidence.

What We Did:

Using this feedback, we have developed a Building Safety Engagement Strategy, including a tailored plan for each block to ensure residents receive the information they need in the way that works best for them.

Ongoing Review & Updates:

  • The Building Safety Engagement Strategy will be reviewed at least every two years to ensure it remains effective and relevant.
  • Block-specific safety information will be updated annually to reflect any changes in safety measures, procedures, or resident concerns.
