Help us shape a Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan (CAAMP) for the Webb Estate and Upper Woodcote Village, Purley
We are delighted to announce that work has begun on the Webb Estate and Upper Woodcote Village Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan (CAAMP). The published document is now being reviewed and updated by the Conservation Team – Spatial Planning who will research the historic development of the estate, undertake a character assessment, and produce a management plan for the area.
We need you
The local community will be vital to this project. As part of our research, we are contacting local residents and community groups in the area to ask for their input. We would like to invite you to take part in our short survey (please scroll down the page to access the link) to help us understand what makes the area special.
This will be followed by a conducted walk around the area with conservation officers to look at and review the character of the estate, as well as any opportunities and challenges.
The Webb Estate and Upper Woodcote Village Conservation Area
The Webb Estate and Upper Woodcote Village Conservation Area covers the Webb Estate and Upper Woodcote Village residential areas in Purley, South London. The Estate was developed by William Webb based on the Garden First Principles developed around the same time as the Garden Cities Movement.
The new CAAMP will include a detailed assessment of the area and its special character, important buildings, streets and spaces that are a vital part of the way we experience the Conservation Area. It will also set out principles for managing the Conservation Area in the future and guidelines for alterations and new development.
