Why are we asking people to complete this survey?
We are always looking for ways to improve how we work with people affected by crime. We want to make sure that we are giving the best support we can, which means we need to hear about what we did well, and what we could do better. This will help us improve our team and the service as a whole.
What is Restorative Justice?
Restorative Justice gives those who have been affected by crime the chance to meet or communicate with the person who caused them harm, to explain the real impact of the crime - it gives them a voice. Restorative Justice often involves a meeting, where the person harmed meets the person who caused the harm face to face. Sometimes, when a face to face meeting is not the best way forward, the person who was harmed and the person who caused the harm will communicate through letters, pre-recorded videos or a professional who passes on their message instead. Someone who is trained in Restorative Justice will help both people to communicate and will make sure it is safe and useful for everyone involved.
